It's time for the mid-year check in. How are those New Year resolutions going? Are you on track to end the year the way you hope to? This is the time to assess all that you've been doing. How far you've gotten and how far you have to go.
Start with those goals you set at the beginning of the year. What were they? How are you doing with them? Do you remember them??? I had resolved to stop playing that silly game on my phone. How am I doing with that? Badly!!! I'm probably more addicted than I was at the beginning of the year. I've tried to figure out what is so appealing about this game for me. It is competitive. Not only to clear levels but there are aspects that has me competing with other players. I'm very competitive and love to win. That is one draw for me. It's also fun and relaxing. But I spend way too much of my time on it. Obviously, I'm still working on that one. But I have time. I'm trying to wean myself off of it. I have banned from my schedule first thing in the morning. I will not play it until later in the day. It's not much but it's a tiny bit of progress.
Another resolution I had was to learn to love walking. I like being active. I love a good pickleball session. I enjoy bike riding and going out on the kayak but there is something about walking that doesn't appeal to me. I haven't gotten very far on that one either. But I still have time. I want to learn to love it. It's easy and assessable and my dog would love it. Now that it's warmer out I have no excuse. I need to just grab the dog and go. I don't have to take the boring walk down my street. I can go to a nice scenic area to explore with the dog or without the dog. It doesn't matter which. It's time to just put on my shoes and go.
When it comes to my business. Well, there is a long way to go to get to those year end goals I had visions of. That is me managing my time poorly. I'm also having trouble getting myself out of my comfort zone. What I need to do is sit down and figure out what is a must to be done by the end of the year and come up with a plan to make it happen. Take into account the obstacles that I may face and how to overcome them.
I'm a few pounds lighter than the beginning of the year but not much. But I didn't put on the usual amount of weight I do most years around the holidays. I was very conscious of keeping the weight off during that time and it really worked. I'd love to get another 10 pounds off but I'm not going to be crushed if I don't. I have been working on why I eat the way I do. I have come a long way in how I go about my daily eating habits. I eat mostly whole, nutritious foods that I love. Lot's of fruits, vegetables, who grains and lean protein. The weekends are still tough for me as I tend to want to eat junk but I'm making progress. And my nighttime snacking sometimes gets out of control so I'm trying to address that in my journal to figure out why I still do it.
Think about what you want to have achieved by the end of the year. Where are you now and how far away are you from that vision? What do you need to do to bridge the gap? What can you start doing everyday that will bring you closer to that version of you? What steps do you need to take to make your dreams a reality? What obstacles do you think may stand in your way and how will you overcome them? Write out how you will feel once you achieve that goal and read it so it keeps your momentum up to keep you striving toward your dream each and every day. But do something every week that is related to your goal and will keep you moving forward. Little steps are better than no steps. Just keep doing....little by little or in huge spurts at times. Just keep it up. Keep that vision in your mind, read it over and over and start doing what it takes. Because you my friend, have got what it takes.
