We should change #mondaymotivation to #mondaymomentum because it's really about the momentum you create and sustaining it that drives you to all your dreams. You remember from science class that a body in motion tends to stay in motion and a body at rest tends to stay at rest. That's science people. If you start out this week in the right direction, you are way more likely to stay in that direction.
So what do I mean by the right direction? I mean, you can use momentum to bring anything you want into your life. Do you want to feel happier everyday? Then start out today being happy. No matter what happened over the weekend, try to put it out of your mind and start fresh. If Sandy or Rob starts in on you the moment you get to the office, don't let them get to you. Just smile and say okay. Even tell them if you'd like, I'm in a great mood today and I'm not letting anyone ruin it. Stay the course. Don't let people bring you down. Tell yourself you will worry about it tomorrow. And when tomorrow comes, you may find that the world didn't end when you failed to freak out. It may be a good lesson that the usual approach isn't always necessary. Once you get through one day of feeling good and not letting things get to you, you will want to continue on that track. Let the momentum carry you through!
Momentum is the reason why most of us wait to start things at the beginning of a week, month, year. Because we want the momentum of the new habit to carry us forward and keep us going. We don't want to start a healthy eating program on a Thursday because we're afraid we will cave during the weekend and not stay with it. But if we start on Monday, we'll have five days under our belt and that will help keep our momentum going to get through the weekend. It's the same with exercise. They say you should never miss a Monday when you work out. Because if you get that first day in then the momentum will carry you into the rest of the week. But if you miss on Monday you will be more likely to miss the rest of the week.
Momentum is what keeps us going when it comes to any goal. Start off on the right track and the more you get under your belt the more likely you are to keep doing it. Do you want to crush it at work this month? Then start showcasing your superstar skills today. Leaving work knowing you did the very best you could do today will make you feel so good you will want to leave work with that feeling everyday. Eventually others will notice as well and you will be well on your way to that promotion or pay raise. Use the momentum to carry you forward. Because once you stop, momentum will work against you.
It's March 2nd. We've got the added benefit of stating out today with a new week and a new month. Do you have any goals you would like to achieve this month? It's Monday again! My favorite day after Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Use this Monday and a the start of a new month to do something great.
