I completed my first 24 hour fast. It wasn't as tough as I thought it would be. It wasn't easy by any means but I made it. Then I feasted on a yummy scallop dinner with potato salad and corn bread. It was delicious. So what do I do? I ruin it by weighing myself first thing this morning and I don't like what I see. I know, I know....I have to stop weighing myself everyday. I can't seem to help it. I'm thinking about putting the scale in my car but I'm not sure if the cold will affect it. Anyway, no matter what the scale says I need to hang in there. I have to stay the course, follow my plan and have faith that it will all fall into place. My only other option is to throw in the towel and gain back even more. Or adjust my plan to a different one but I need to give this one time.
This goes for you too. No matter what it is you are attempting right now you must keep at it. Find a way to diminish your discouragements and keep going. Keep thinking about that end goal. When you are living in a way you feel is best for you just keep it up. It will all work out eventually. It may take longer than you would like. It may not be exactly the way you envision it but if you keep at it I believe it will all be worth it in the end.
This goes for any new goal you are striving toward. Are you looking for a promotion at work? Keep doing stand out work even though it will likely take time for the higher ups to notice. If you are just starting meditation you won't feel at peace after one session. If you searching for deeper relationships it will take more than one meaningful conversation for that to occur. Just know that changes are taking place even if you don't see them at first. It's like the seed you planted and now you're waiting for that flower to bloom. There are all kinds of things going on down in that dirt. And when it breaks the surface it will be absolutely beautiful.
I know patience is hard. It's one of my worst faults. But oftentimes we don't have any choice. We just have to wait it out. The other option is to quit and we don't want to do that. We want to get better, stronger and more knowledgable. Even if we aren't gaining that in the time period we hope to we are still getting the benefits and if we stick with it we will get to our goal. When you get discouraged write out a list of benefits you are getting aside from the main goal you are looking for. Focus on those for now. It will help get you through.
It's Tuesday already! Taco day! Are you having one? Have a great day and be a big ole badass. You know I'm cheering you on.
